How much space do I need for meat birds? I'm thinking about getting some - my order has to be put in by Friday........and they recommend 8-10 to start with......I'd rather just try 5.....but who knows. I got a pretty good idea of what to do with them (feeding etc)....just need to know how much space they need.......

how much space do I need?
We had 50 in a 15X40 foot pasture area with a 6X6 covered dog pen for shelter. I'm sure they didn't need all that space as most of the time they spent looking at their food dish or emptying their food dish and then staring at it again. They ended up nice fat birds fairly quickly, but truthfully I prefer the taste of the dual breeds that grow slower and don't eat nearly as much. These dumb birds don't even forage, I think they would starve to death in a field of grasshoppers if no one put them in their dish.
