I have 2 Mollys in a 5 gallon aquarium (sword tail molly?). It's a new tank with integrated pump, filter (changeable filters), etc. Nice setup. Anyway, I think I was overfeeding them - twice a day. Food was building up and starting to grow at the bottom of the tank :( So I changed the water and cut back feeding to once a day. I see them go eat pretty much as soon as I put the food in now. My question is, I still see some flakes that go to the bottom and don't get eaten. WILL they eventually eat those or should I assume they never will and continue to feed them as I'm doing now - sparingly, but maybe too much still? I just don't want the water to get nasty again and have all that building up at the bottom of the tank. If I know they'll eventually eat it if they're truly hungry, I'll cut back a little more.
Is there something better than flakes that will float longer that they'll eat and is easy for me to use?
Also, one of them is orange and the other is a deep/dark blue - almost black looking. The dark one is a little bit bigger than the orange one. The dark one seems to be chasing the orange one around a lot lately. I'll see the orange one hiding in the fake plants very often. Is this a mating thing or are they not getting along? :) It sure seemed to me the dark one (in a few instances) was in the position that leads me to belive it was getting frisky with the orange one, but I don't know fish so I don't know...
