Beautiful pics James. I had a Monarch eclose today also. Tried to get it on video, since I had a meeting, but didn't realize the disc had some other events on it! Have some nice still shots of the chrysalis and the bf afterward though.

It seems to be a really bold color one. I was able to share her release with my Great Niece and Nephew which made it special too. Those pics are still in the camera though.

I was going to ask about your chrysalis James. Still there I hope? And you are getting more eggs. Boy you are popular. So Sheila from my friends here on this site helping me to identify the Monarch that means yours is a female, correct? She is a beauty. Glad your niece and nephew got to watch her go. The Monarch chrysalis are the coolest to me than any other. They look so fragile and then change colors like that and look just like the BF. That is soo cool to me.

I am happy for you James. You are getting some great BF's in your garden. And they like living there too. Good for you. Great pics and I don't blame you for being excited.

If your chrysalis is changing colors, then it is about time for it to eclose James!!!! That is great! I have a lot of milkweed just waiting, but the silly things won't leave Debnes' house! LOL!! (I live SW from her)
Here is my GN & N helping me let the Monarch go. Caden let it get on his finger but Matti wouldn't hold her hand out. LOL!

How sweet, Sheila!!

James, congratulations!! Has it eclosed yet? If so, we need pictures!! It is so exiting, isn't it? I'm definitely hooked now. :)

Either my hummers are very late risers today, or they left last night/early this morning. :( Hopefully, they are just sleeping in this morning.

Definitely keep us posted on your chrysalis today!!

Edited to say that I spoke too soon about the hummers. They apparently were sleeping in this morning!!

I am watching and my Mother In-Law is helping .....she is staying with us for awhile and she checks it just as often as I do !!!!!!!!!

Yep ........ my hummers usually start a little while after sun up and then for the rest of the day they squabble and chase one another off of their territory !!! They spend more energy chasing one another than if they would just take turns !!!! ..........funny !!

Lily , I am going to take pics of the crysalis this morning and am unsure if I will be able to capture the eclose ( timing and all) ......... but I am going to try.

With the small talk mentioning hummingbirds, I thought this would be a good spot to post a shot taken today of "Top Gun" watching for intruders into "his domain".

Nice shot Rod! They do protect their feeding areas.

Rod, great picture!
I have one that's very protective of "his" feeder too. Except, he sits on top of the feeder. Too funny!

Your hummer looks like a baby or either that feeder is pretty large. I guess by sitting on it, there is no energy wasted flying back and forth! LOL!

Yes, he's my baby sentry. Does a good job for such a young one!!
