Robert, Amanda - Are you ok?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Please let us know.

I talked with Robert on the phone yesterday. His attitude was "Hey, what's another 10" of rain?" with a big shrug of the shoulders. Five inches a couple of years ago put my greenhouses under three feet of water. 10" here and we'd be in Hawaii by now. Hmmm, now that I think of it....C'MON RAIN!!!

WOW! I didn't know you guys had posted a thread about us! Thank you for all of your concern!!

Even though we were forecasted to get blasted last ngiht and this morning here in the Houston area, it didn't happen. Instead, the storm took a turn towards Beaumont, which only left us with some light rain.

BUT, it put Robert directly into it's path and I've not been hearing good tales about the destruction on Beaumont. Hope you're doing alright Robert! Let us know!

Hello Everyone,

Thank you so much for your concern. I really appreciate it. We made it!!! What a freak hurricane. Very unexpected!!! I think this was the fastest develop and strike in history. We expected 50 mph winds and ended up with gust of 110. All of my hibs made it. At 3:30 am I was loading up my box trailer with hibiscus.Very comical but painful with the winds and debris flying. Thankfully I did it because the GH went to kansas with dorthy & toto, oh wait that was a tornado LOL. We are powering now with back-up generators until we get service again. they are estimating the by the 18th. Oh well I am glad that I spend half of my days in the gh because I am used to the heat. Thankfully It did not effect the construction of my new GH's whatsoever. It was amazing at about 4:30 it was dead calm because the eye was passing but then a little later here we go again. Thankfully we just had some trees go down and just slight damage to the house. Well, I need to get going with the chainsaw but wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I will get back with everyone later.

Sincerely,
Robert

Glad to hear you're both OK!

Oh my Robert. Sounds scary. And good for you that you thought to move everything to your trailer. It woud have been a sin if your pretties had been killed. I am so sorry for your GH though. I bet it makes so much more work for you.

Amanda, I am so glad you escaped. THANK GOD!

And David, LOL. I am ready for Hawaii.

Thanks, Kell and ecrane3!

Robert - the 18th? Ugh! Oh well, at least we're out of the 100 degree temps right now, right? Should be a little more bearable. Wow, I'm glad the hibbies and new GH are safe at least! And that was a good idea to move them to your trailer!

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

I'm so glad you are both okay! And Robert, it's good that you have a trailer where you can move your plants. I can't believe you'll be without power until the 18th, that's terrible. I can't imagine going thru the hurricane seasons y'all have each year :-(

I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for thinking and being concerned about us. It really means alot. We are all OK just very tired. Clearing out trees and taking care of the family and plants, it is so hot. We are all sleeping in the living room tonight with 5 fans and it almost feels cool. Well, maybe it is the heat talking now. LOL Everyone have a great night and again I can't thank you enough for your concern.

Take Care,
Robert

Glad to know you are both ok. There is another one out there, that may be a threat to Eastern Florida. We won't know for a few more days. Ugh! Thank goodness my storage shed and patio have lots of room, but don't know if my back can take moving all those pots, if need be.
We had a tropical thunderstorm, with winds of 45-50 miles per hour last week. I guess someone forgot to tell the weatherman to let us know about it. It came from nowhere. But nothing was damaged from that. So, at least I know we can handle a tropical storm.

Robert and Amanda,
Hope you get your electric on way before the 18th. I don't even want to think what your generator bills are going to be like. Another Ugh!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, luckily for me - there was no change here and we weren't affected at all. Robert, on the other hand, was. He said something about sleeping in the living room tonight with family members and lots of fans! Ugh ...
