Need info from the experts . . .

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Hi,
I got an email from someone looking for seeds for Angel Trumpets in the following colors:
DEEP PURPLE,
RED,
SCARLET (what's the difference between red and scarlet? )
BLUE

I did a quick search in PF and didn't turn up anything in these colors. Do Angel Trumpets come in these colors? If so, could you tell me the correct cultivar name? If you happen to know a source for these plants in these colors (or seeds) (I'll check plant scout) that I can direct this person to, I'd appreciate that, too.

Thanks for any help.

There are purple Daturas, called Angel's Trumpets by some.
The red or scarlet Brugmansia is Sanguinea.I see them for sale on Ebay sometimes.J.L.Hudson,Seedsman usually has seed for both.
No blues

Unless by blue they mean Iochromas, which are a cousin to the brugs and daturas. The blooms are much, much smaller though.

The blue would be Acnistus australis (now renamed Iochroma australis). not Brugmansia, but a near relative.

GREAT - thanks for the help!! I'll pass it along.

Do Iochromas come true from seed?

Depends on the variety. The acnistus do. The others? Very difficult to obtain viable seed.

Nice to know, thanks Liz
