CLOSED: OFFER: Rose of Sharon seeds

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Note: Contains chaff, seed pods, etc.

Last year I collected quite a few pods of Rose
of Sharon in mixed colors.

This year's seeds are coming in, so I have no
use for all of last year's leftovers. If you don't mind sorting
through the chaff, you are welcome to plenty of seeds.

I'll stuff all that I can into a 2 x 3 zip bag, which will likely
contain more seeds than anyone will possibly ever grow.
No instructions for planting, no labels, so please remember
which seeds you sent the s.a.s.e. about.

My addy is in the exchange. I'll be sitting here off and on
for a bit, so please post your intention to send a s.a.s.e.
and I'll set a pack aside for you. :-) Please don't send Dmail.

I estimate there are ten to twelve packs, please request but
one so others can have a chance.

As the post office is now charging for thick envelopes as
packages, the postage charge will be 1.13.

Happy gardening!

Hi
Can you tell me please how to get the seeds from these? I have some and cant figure out where the seeds are.

Thanks

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello Jada,

When the seed pods are mature, they will begin to
turn brown and split open, revealing many dark brown
to blackish seeds.

Have your Rose of Sharon finished blooming?

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

I would love some of the seeds-I am doing a round robin for newbies and I could use some more seeds-will you take a SASE or trade? Have a look at my have list and see if there is anything of interest :o)
Thanks, Robbi

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

LOL-remember me-I asked for peanuts some time ago-LOL, I thought your name looked familiar :o) Ever look at my have list as I would still love to do a trade if you have time :o)

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello Robbi,

Yes, a s.a.s.e. is great. I'm not looking for anything
at this time, though. Just trying to clean up my work space
and seed boxes.

:-)

I sure will send you a SASBE-not a problem-clean away and I will be sure to add your name to Dave's Helping Heros who are helping the newbies! Thanks-I am guessing you are in the exchange?.

My Rose of Sharon are still blooming....We havent had much rain so they are full of buds but only a few are opening. I have looked at the dried up ones and the seeds look soooo tiny unless I am looking at the wrong thing. Its almost like dust inside the dried flower. Is that it? I think I might have to wait for some to split open. I'll keep looking. Thanks for the info.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi Robbi...see first post. ;-)

Jada, sounds like yours are still a ways off from seeding.
It won't be much longer. :-)

Hello Marie,

Nope, you are not too late.

The address exchange can be found when you
click the HOME tab, then there will be a little tab
marked EXTRAS:

http://davesgarden.com/extras.php

Once you get there, you have many options, which include
the address exchange link:

http://davesgarden.com/address_exchange/

Just select the W, scroll to the bottom for Wuvie, and there
I am. You can also add your own addy, too.

:-) Hope this helps,
KM

P.S. Since there seem to be few interested, I'm sending
each s.a.s.e two packs of seeds.

Hi Wuvie- I would like to try to grow these Rose of Sharon. I have some zone 5 plants growing now, with lots of mulch and in a protected area. It will take me 1-2 weeks though to get across the border to get U.S. postage. Can you save some seeds for me until I can get the postage. Sandra

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello Gail and Sandra,

Absolutely. I'll be more than happy to save
them for both of you.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi Gail,

Not a problem at all. I realize people are busy and life
gets in the way. I'm not concerned. Your seeds are safe
and dry, don't worry, they are here for you when you
get a chance.

:-) KM

cornwall, ON(Zone 4b)

karen Marie,

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi Jane Marie,

Yes, I've been packing your envelope each day with more
goodies. Between rain, reunions, a sick kid and other things
going on, it's taking a bit longer than I had hoped. It's been
a bugger to get out and dig in the mud, LOL.

I don't travel to town every day, so I have to plan around that,
as well.

When your package arrives, I think you'll be more than pleased.

:-) KM

Utica, NY(Zone 4b)

well thank you KM,

I',m still kinda red in the face that I thought a good sized envelope for seeds would be THAT....10by16.....what was i thinking?......lol

I know have a box of a 100 of that size sitting in the smaller spare room/ sewing/ computer/ my tv room/ bed romm when hubbby is on the road 5 of the 7 days o week.............

Hi
Just wanted to let you know my ROS has seeds now, Yea! Thanks for all your help. I had ROS and hibiscus confused because the flowers look alike but the seeds are different ( fuzzy ROS) . I sure was surprised to see those little fuzzies. Sorry to be OT just wanted to say thanks.

Joyce

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Jada, isn't that the neatest feeling? I'm glad you
were able to harvest seeds. No need to apologize

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi Sandra,

Oops, I didn't notice you were from Canada. Received
your envelope today, did you want me to re-use the one
you sent? I hope the two stamps will get it back to you,
unsure if they will let it go through if the postage is insufficient.

Wish me luck. :-) KM

cornwall, ON(Zone 4b)

Hi Karen- if you haven't already sent that envelope out , there were stamps on the backside also. Oh well, if you get it back, we'll try again. Hopefully they will send it through and charge me on this end. I will let you know, if it arrives.
thank-you Sandra

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Ah, Sandra, indeed you are right, I just noticed! My apologies.
