Dog poop fertilizer

Wichita Falls, TX

We have a cocker and 2 Cavs. They are prodigious poopers in our small backyard. Rather than disposing of it as usual, I thought I might add it to my compost pile, but then I seem to remember that I read somewhere, I think, that dog poop is not a good supplement.

I found several links to composting dog poop. It's possible, but they all seem to emphasize the need to follow directions, use the proper equipment and to get the compost pile temperature up to 140ºF.

tutroy,
Just taking a break from my outside work, got on DG and happened to see your thread.
I just ran across this a few weeks ago and thought it might be of some interest.
