Brug Newbie with some questions

Chicago Suburbs, IL(Zone 5b)

I want a Brug *really* bad, I even went out and bought some pots for my future babies last night :)

I am generally not good with high maintainence plants so I am doing a good bit of reading first before I get one. One thing I have yet to find an answer for is when it is the best time to start seeds / cuttings... If I bought seeds or cuttings now and planted them indoors would they live through the winter and be able to go out in the spring? Or should I wait until it is closer to spring to take the plunge?

i dont see a reason to wait...

Will they be in your home or in a greenhouse?

They would be in my home.

plexipplus, right now through the next few weeks is the time to get your cuttings and seeds.

I see that you are in zone five. If you grow brugs using seeds then you will need to start them anywhere from November to December, maybe even earlier if possible, in order for them to even have a chance at blooming next summer.

If you get cuttings, in my humble opinion, you should try to keep them growing under lights throughout the winter. It is best to not to try to keep a new cutting dormant its first winter. You will have a head start on them and should see blooms next summer.

But you will have to feed the plants regularly in the growing season, whether they are seedlings or cuttings, to see blooms. Most feed their brugs at least 1 or 2 times a week.
