Our largest and smallest so far. The largest was another double yoke egg. We've had several of those.

I had an hour to kill between dropping one of the girls off at soccer and going back to get her. I should have used the flash for the pic. I should have used the icing tool to make them pretty. But what the heck, they'll taste good anyway. :)

Some of you said fresh eggs are hard to peel! And some were! I ripped one up but salvaged the yolk. A couple of others were pretty hard to peel and came out less than perfect. LOL

Here's an article that says to use eggs 2 weeks old.

You get another pic of my raw eggs from last week. I didn't have anything else. LOL

Have I mentioned how much we are enjoying farm life????

I hear ya !!!!

Mine starting laying about the same time yours did. I got one double yolker so far and you should have heard the glee in my voice as I said OMG, Look, look it's a dbl yolker. I was thrilled.....somehow my life has shifted onto another level without my even realizing it...LMAO !!

I made eggs for dinner again tonight, so far I'm liking this setup !! Although once all the hens start to lay it may become overwhelming.

I haven't boiled / peeled any yet, guess I thought it would be too much of a challenge for me ;0)

Hey, I've got the same special bowls you have in the last pic...lol. They are extremely handy !!!

OMG! They are gone! LOL Thank goodness one kid jumped up and put 6 in a bowl for hubby to take to work. I think we've been home about 15 minutes, everyone's chili is still hot and the eggs are G O N E! Even my 14 year old that has been completely grossed out by all this woofed some down...

It is so fun Julie!! I used to only get this excited about shoes and double joy if I could find a matching purse. LOL

Who would have thought one could get so excited about something that comes out of the back end of an animal?? bwaaaaa

"So far I am liking this set up". Ha! I like to think of it as getting free groceries. Of course you can only buy that story if you are not buying chicken food! We've been also giving them table scraps and over ripe veggies and man oh man do they love bread and corn. It's hysterical to watch them fight over left over spaghetti. Pasta flying everywhere, they fling it on their backs, another tries to grab the flying tail end. It's a riot!

I'm also laughing about the bowls. With 8 people in the house, that is the economical way to buy ice cream. ;)

Mine had spaghetti last night and salad this morning...lol.

Here is a pic of eggs, two days worth as a lot of the gals aren't laying yet.

Isn't it fun to watch them with spaghetti??

Oh! Your eggs are pretty! Who is laying the olive ones??

Like you, we are getting the pale brown and dark brown. We are averaging 5-6 eggs a day now. Woo hoo!

Northern Michigan, MI(Zone 5a)

The olive ones are from my EE's. Although I think the one that is bluer is from the solid white gal I hatched from eggs I bought.

Oh you guys are having so much fun! But....tomorrow I am getting my chickens and a rooster so I will be able to join in the fun :)
A story for you all:
A friend of mine calls me and says are you getting chickens on Sunday, I replied yes. She said, could you increase your order, I said I dont know let me call her. The woman said Yep! I asked my friend if she wanted a rooster she said of course, they cant lay eggs without a rooster. I stopped dead in my tracks, thinking, this woman was raised on a farm, is she just testing me...I waited...and said what??!! Then she said, do I need the rooster? I said only if you want babies, you will get the eggs without the rooster, she said oh no, I dont want the rooster then. I really did think she was testing me, or trying to play a joke on me, but such was not the case. Anyway, now we are both getting chickens tomorrow! :)

Easter eggers right? I thought those laid shades of green and blue. I believe we should getting blue eggs at some point. So far we have white and shades of brown...

YAY CANDY!!!

LOL about the rooster! I refuse to say much more because I was clueless a few short months ago and still have a long way to go. ;)

Thank you Chel, I am looking forward to it. My Big kids are too LOL, they are all adults!

Yes I can say the same about the rooster too, but like I said...she was raised on a farm, so therefore that is why I thought she was teasing me :)

Don't worry folks, there will never be a time that ALL the girls lay. Someone is always on strike, vacation, full scholarship, etc. Especially in the winter :) So you have to love them anyway :)

jab91864, About the only way to make that group look prettier is to add a couple white eggs from a Leghorn, Andalusian or Minorca.

Northern Michigan, MI(Zone 5a)

LOL..... it already crossed my mind I don't have any white egg layers in the bunch !!

I was thinking of you a little bit ago Julie. We just finished eating has browns, sausage and eggs, either scrambled or as an omelet and it had me wondering if you were making breakfast too. LOL

Northern Michigan, MI(Zone 5a)

I just had a small bowl of cherry tomatoes and two eggs over easy for my dinner....lol.

Everyone else opted for leftover tacos or chili....
