I have it and that is one that spreads nicely. not too fast, but it's gaining every year.
It does look like it, is yours mammothed compared to other peacock gingers? cause this thing is pretty big, the leaves are twice the size of my others
thanks for the link--kaempferias start to look so alike when you look at them awhile
isn't that the truth! I intended to keep them tagged, but after looking at them for a while I get crossed-eyed and throw my arms up in the air. Too hard to keep them straight.
I would say mine is getting bigger over time. Here is one I just got this weekend, don't know what it is. Look how big it is compared to my hand. This could have very well been a div. of some older plant. I dunno. My guess is yours could be the same situation.
There is a plain jane solid green that really looks like a hosta. I would like to get my hands on that one.
alright, mine doesn't seem like such a monster now, wow! That's a nice one. Okay, I feel safe to tag the thing and take silver spot off my want list :) Thanks so much for the ID. ......pssst.....have you peeked at the Classifieds...Moodene's got the goods...lol
Kara, are you kidding?
Nadine aka Moodene and I go a ways back. I met her at a local swap and immediately realized she's a plant nut and is a walking encyclopedia. I just ordered the fancy orange ginger from her and will be seeing her in Oct at one of the local garden club field trips which is going to be at this fantastic jungle place.
Be jealous, be very, very jealous, lol
rub it in! lol---the Kaempferia 'shazaam' is supercool
