Want to start seed trading

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

I am new to this so don't know how to go about it. How many different kinds of seeds should I have. Some things I just can't find the seeds
Is it ok to start sending postage for them and build up a supply. All I have now are marigold seeds that could make 1,000 beds, but everyone has those so I'm sure no one wants any.
If someone could tell me how to start. I hate to take and not give back!!!

Just put for trade or SASE Marigolds
I can guarantee you will get takers.

What are you looking for? And what kind of marigolds are they?

We all started out somewhere and I had little to no knowledge in 2003 when I came to DG. I moved to a new (1910) house in Aug of last year and had to start over. I paid lots of postage for plants, bulbs, seeds, co-ops - but well worth it.

Always click on the person's name whom you are trading with and see what comments people have left for them. They will leave the same for you - like ebay. That prevents, or helps prevent rip offs.

Every day, at least twice, look at the forums: co-ops, plant trading, seed trading, classified.

Hey there! I'm a newbie, too. Have you signed up for the Round Robin for newbies? Robbie (distantkin) is having everyone send her seeds & she is distributing them to newbies. That way you can get some seeds to work with & to trade. Sign up on the seed trading forum.

Hi Lavina, See, this shows how much I know. I have some that got really big and they are an orangy yellow and some yellow ones that the plant got pretty big with lots of blooms, but has small flowers. Problem is I put them all together!! I did notice some of the seeds had a little different color.
I know now to separate them.
I can send you a bunch of them if you want. I will just send them because who knows if they will grow or not.
What is your address?

LorraineR,
Dave's Garden has a nifty 'Seed and Plant Trading' primer.
I read through it, and have learned much about trading.
