My garden today.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

This coming Sunday my garden is 'open' to Hort. Society members. I am keeping my fingers crossed we do not have a killing frost before then ( and that it does not rain!)
So I took some pictures this afternoon. Not much blooming but still looking pretty good.
Ive made a couple of collages rather than post them all individually.
P.S. the red house is not mine!

With one of the mirrors. So clever. I can't blow up your pix though Carol. Old eyes you know. and where is a ruler of the house? I'll have to get my magnifying glass. Your collages are super. Really clever way to get lots of pix on one page. Can you take a picture of the other mirror that shows it off well or it just wont work. I tried but camera was full.

It looks like the new houses are finished. Neighbours?

thank you for the pix.

Found my magnifying glass. Found your beauty. Pots by your willow chairs are perfect too. Look so restful.

Lovely pictures of your gardens Carol. One at a time in bigger format would be nice.

OK folks - I just didnt want to post so many pics one at a time! Yes I realize they are small - I will put them in my blog or whatever it is called these days. And Ginny here is a pic of the mirror,
Ginny no that house is a long way from being finished but the For Sale signs are up - $769,000 a side! Here is the other mirror.

Just gorgeous Carol. What a great idea.

Morning Carol,

Thank you so much for your picture of the other mirror. It really is wonderful.

Your garden, while a city lot in size, has so many treasures everywhere. Everywhere you look are very unusual goodies. The best ones for me are your foxtail lilies.

How are your fab. very red hens and chicks? Where did you plant them, in the end.?

Most of the great things we found at Heronswood are growing well. I'll mulch them for the winter.... and hope.......

I've ordered some foxtail lilies, to see if I can grow them here in Winnipeg.

Outside I go, back to the iris.

Very nice garden. It looks well-ordered and inviting. I like the look of those troughs on the tree stumps. The path of daffodils is a lovely idea.

The view with the mirror is ~beautiful. I love the colors. Very clever to add a mirror. I haven't seen that used in a garden before. The reflective light does not bother the plants? Perhaps, it is like having a white house? I do not know.

Thank you for sharing!

Carol
Very lovely and it was super to visit again, with the photo's.
The Semps that you shared have caught on and I will send you a photo of the small garden for them I set up.
I will keep my fingers crossed for the frost to STAY AWAY.

OK for those of you who wanted bigger pictures I have finished my 2007 Garden diary.

It rained from about midnight last night until about an hour ago - steady rain but the garden will love it! Not a nice day to go out at the moment - cold front predicted to pass thru by tomorrow.

Carol,
Your garden looks fabulous! Love your garden/flower diaries. The picture of the fernleaf peony and mirror is awesome.

Will be over on Sunday to have a peek in person! See you then.

Perfect day today for open gardens. Last one of the year.
Sunny and warm - short sleeves and bare feet but not so warm it was uncomfortable. Dont know how many people came thru - mine was the only garden in the SW quadrant of the city - but probably about 150.

Two of my mail orders came this week - Peony, Martagon and LA Hybrid lilies and siberian iris. All planted except the sibs. Still have another peony and some bulbs to come probably next week then all the fall planting will be complete. Oh and a friend brought me a clump of Phlox today!

Seems like it never ends! We are lucky not to have had a killing frost in the city yet because that really signals the end!

So happy you had a lovely day and all went well. Let's hope you can squeeze in a bit more time before that frost hits.

Really enjoyed seeing your gardens again today Carol! It's amazing how things change through the season. I really like the way you've set up your seating areas with lots of little private places to sit and enjoy your plants. What a lovely day to have a good visit with our numerous gardening friends. Was also good to see Fancy & Bailey of course. Ü

Thanks Jo. There were a number of CHS chat forum folks showed up - Joe came ( I think he is a cop - had a CPS T shirt on but I didnt ask) Rebecca and Carolyn who both post from time to time and a couple of others I think and of course you and Jo and Theresa.
