Pretty blooms, Cat! You've broken down my will, I'm going to have to get a Montserrat. LOVE those little gnome planters too - totally cute!

Not much from me today! I'm suppose to be studying for a test tonight ... I can't do that when I can log into DG!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I like Raggae Breeze. Nothing here today because I don't want to go out in the rain to take pictures. LOL!

Here are mine:

2nd day bloom on Sun Showers. I thought this one might open farther today, but it still looks partly closed (although I got home late tonight, so maybe it was more open earlier in the day). We'll see what it looks like tomorrow!

Wow, love that Cherry Ice!!

And a new one for me, Lady in Waiting!

But the really sad thing...I saw this one blooming, then as I was watering some of my smaller also fairly newly purchased hibbies, I found another Lady in Waiting plant! So it looks like I bought it twice, from the same place, within a month or two of each other. How bad is that when I buy something again because I didn't realize I already had it! And what makes it even worse is I discovered the same thing on my front plant deck, not hibiscus this time but an Australian native shrub, somehow I managed to accidentally put both of them next to each other when I was shuffling plants around over the weekend, then I noticed it today when I was watering that these two shrubs looked an awful lot alike, looked at the plant tags and sure enough they were the same! I wonder how many more plants I've bought twice because I couldn't keep track of what I already had! Does this mean I have a problem? I'm not even that old, so I can't make any excuses for this!

That ones gorgeous as well!

All I can say is its good to have backup plants, especially when they're that pretty.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I do buy backup plants on purpose sometimes, when I find something I really like and I think it's at risk of dying from cold, gophers, heat, etc. But I usually only do that if it's a plant I think I might have trouble finding again if something happens to the first one, and I know I could find this one again so I'm a bit annoyed with myself!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I did the same exact thing with Lady in Waiting, lol!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Maybe it secretly propagates itself at night when we're not looking!

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

LOL, the super cloning Lady in Waiting! Great picture, Liz!

Do you have a plant database? I built one in Access, because I've done that same thing with daylilies. I keep all my plant info - date planted, fertilized, if I repot it, flower size, season of bloom, where I purchased it, etc. I am admittedly a bit anal about organization, and my family teases me mercilessly, but I guess that's what comes from working in an office for so many years ;-) It does help though, particularly with the fertilization schedule. My brugs, hibiscus and plumerias are easy since I fertilize every two weeks, but most of the other plants in my yard are on different schedules and without the database, I'd never remember what I did when.

I had some blooms greet me when I got home from work.

The first one is Creme de Cacao.

I think Electric Blue faded a bit during the day, but the bloom is still pretty.

I would have missed this beautiful Black Dragon bloom if I hadn't been looking for new scapes on my reblooming daylilies. Strange place for the flower, right at the bottom of the plant it had a bud and I didn't even know it :-) Nice surprise!

Last one is Molten Lava. This plant has grown so quickly I already have to repot it. I just love the bloom :-)

Moletn Lava is pretty!! But so is Black Dragon!! WOW!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I do have a plant database--I used to have one in Access until I found DG, now I keep track of things in my journal here, the Access one was more of a pain because I had to convert all the pictures to bmp files in order to use them (I have a pretty old version, probably newer ones will like jpg's better). The problem is, I don't like to add something to my journal unless I can add it by importing from Plant Files, so I have a number of things that aren't in PF that I haven't had time to add, and therefore they aren't in my journal. LiW is in PF now but wasn't when I got my first one, so it never made it into my journal before I got the 2nd one. But of course I don't always check my journal before I buy things so even if it had been in there the same thing could have happened!

Love that Black Dragon and Molten Lava! My Dragon's Breath did the same thing to me--it had a flower that was way down low on the plant, unfortunately I didn't notice it until the bloom had already faded, and I was so bummed! That was months ago and it hasn't bloomed again--couple of buds on it now though so I'm hoping!

I'm a professional hybridizer of exotic Hibiscus (see www.barryschlueter.com) and I just paid to join Dave's Garden. I had visited the site often but was reluctant to pay for access, but it turned out to be inexpensive and I hope to enjoy the words and images of hibiscus posted here. I'm posting today a brand new seedling, working name OLIVE GARDEN, a cross of (Icon x Barry Schlueter), two of my own creations.

peace and goodwill to all,
Barry

Welcome to Dave's, Barry. It's great to have you here and I'll be looking forward to seeing your hibiscus pictures along with everyone else's. I've already visited your site. Nice.

Hey Barry - I'm really enjoying my Enlightenment!! :) And did you create the Rum Runner also?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the greetings!
Hines has been selling Rum Runner as part of the Bahama Bay group, but it's the only one I did not create in the series. I'd be happy to take credit for it, though.
;-)
I love the opening color and the floriferousness of Rum Runner. Not so crazy about the fading color, though.

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Yep, I agree with you. But the fading color is not bad, it just looks faded. :) Could you give me some help on a problem I'm having with my Rum Runners?
