Anyone have cut flowers in vases?

I've been cutting mine this year to keep in vases and was wondering if others are doing the same. They smell so good in the house. My Hedychiums are finally starting to take off here in September.

I did the same thing last year too but left more in the garden.

Mine are blooming too.but taking them to work..hopefully smelling up a room. I work with 2 mechanics and it is not easy to cover up oil and grime smells...LOL and even them 2 stink themselves...lol

Clare, my friend's gingers were a little less open than yours, but comparing to your pic, she cut them in about the same length.

Thanks, Nery!

Ignorant question here since I am VERY new to gingers.

Once cut does the plant produce new buds/blooms or is that "it" until next year?

That's it for that stalk, but new stalks are coming in all the time.

each stem is monocarpic. the rhizome will have to grow more and produce another stalk to flower again, unless it has other stalks to fower
