So beautiful, but....

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

it is not unique in any way. This is a seedling of mine, MM x CS, 11' long, pure white, and what I think is a beautiful form. Just wanted to show it before I compost. :(

no, no, no, no, no!! No composting!! That is a very, elegant pure white that you don't find everyday, and the parents are great cultivars. If anything, use it as a pollen donor for the shape, and maybe even some color down the road.

I appreciate your comments and will keep this baby...thank you for your guidance. Since it was a single white, I thought everyone always pitches theirs, so I was prepared to so the same. I've already been outside and told it the good news so it opened another flower for me. :)

Do you keep them in pots or dig them and bring in?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

makshi, I grow the brugs. in pots. Some of the pots are planted in beds, some within a much larger container to conceal the ugly black pot. The seedling pots are placed at the rear of my drive until I see their bloom.

I only have 2 so I am going to bring in a cutting of each.

Nice white, Tussee. I have a white single that I'm going to keep this year, too. It was from a cross made by Liz in VanCouver. It nods and I'm one who loves nodding brugs so I can see inside them. It smells really good, and it lasted well in full sun and through high winds. The best thing was that it wasn't a bug magnet and I had tons of mites this year.

PS. I think if you grow something from seed and you like it.....keep it. Chances are good that something better will replace it down the road. It happens all the time. I grow my brugs to enjoy and if I had your white one...I would enjoy it too.

I like your white seedling, Shirley, and I can see why you would keep it. It is nice to be able to look inside a flower without having to hold it up. BTW, how are you coming along with all the seedlings you started this year...have they bloomed or about ready to bloom? I'm concerned with mine as so many have not even y'd yet and I doubt there is room to bring them all inside.

I agree with everyone! PLEASE KEEP IT ALIVE. It's so elegant!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Tussee, I have had three of them bloom so far and many don't have Y's yet. Like you, I don't know if I'll have room to keep them inside, but I do know the ones that I will keep that are most important. There aren't many of them.

Thank you, Teresa, I believe it is elegant and it will come in this fall. Thanks for your comment.

Dripping Springs, TX(Zone 8b)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Snow white elegance! L@@K at that pic! Phew, Tussie, glad they got you to come to your senses! lol I grow just for enjoyment too, so when you guys say your pitching them, I feel so sorry for them... I know, you can't keep them all but that one looks supreme!

ME! ME! ME!...

If you're gonna toss a brug cause you've got too many or don't like the flower or it hasn't "Y'd" yet there are many brug newbies (i.e. "ME"...) that would love to try their hand at raising your "castaways" and/or compost-bound brugs. I'm willing to pay postage "up-front" (paypal) if need be...

Just "ME"...Jan
