Hi everybody! I am just getting into hibiscus and drooling over all of your pics!!! Great job everyone! Please tell me what type of hibiscus would work for me here in Southern Maine, zone 5, about 5 miles from ocean. Can I grow the really large flowers?
Hibiscus in Southern Maine
I will leave this one for Liz, Kyle, Robert or David to answer. They are far more experience.
PS....I used to live in Vermont.....Maine is so gorgeous!
Many of the hardy hibiscus are rated for zone 5a; check out some of these babies.

Some of the hardies can get really big flowers and you could definitely grow those. But if the ones you've been drooling over were our tropical pics that everyone posts every day, then you can grow those too but you'll have to bring them in for the winter.
Thank you all so much for the info. Ardesia - those hardies certainly look fabulous. I would be ecstatic to grow those!
