My parting purchase from David. She arrived after a long trip across country with more than 2 dozen buds but she got here just in time for the 8" of rain and between that and the heat and the yesterday's wind she lost a bunch. This is the first flower and I am afraid she got splashed with stuff when I was watering just now but I couldn't wait to show you.
She still has over a dozen buds on her......
Introducing my beautiful Zoey
I love the touches of pink, just here and there, like an artist would do. Beautiful!

Ooh...that is gorgeous! I just got one from him too (or maybe it was Hidden Valley Hib...I'd have to go check the tag!), mine hasn't bloomed yet though. It was thinking of it, but then my dog wagged his tail a little to close to the hibiscus area on the deck and whacked the bud off!
Oh my gosh, I think I'm in love. She is beautiful. How lucky you are to have her.
Woohoo! So glad I have one of these on order from Martindale's too - I can hardly wait to receive it :-) I've even already have a special turquoise pot to put Zoey in :-) Looks like a little peppermint candy!
Beautiful bloom, Ardesia, just beautiful!
So, I'm guessing we all placed a "last" order with David?? I did and I'm anxiously awaiting a Night Fire and Red Dragonette :-) What all did you guys get?
My last order was Zooey and Evangeline...although I think he's open until the end of the month, so maybe that won't really be the last!
Zoey is quite pretty.
I ordered from David:
1 - Buff Beauty
2 - Cool It
3 - Rosalind
and, of course, another
4 - Nightfire.
I am going to miss him greatly. He is one of my 3 favorite hib sellers.
PS...going to Martindale Nursery on Tuesday. I heard from Matt and he said that visiting him in person is fine. Liz, thank you for letting me know about him.
I'll have to mapquest Matt's place and see how far it is from the Jacksonville area where my kids live. But, for me, seeing them all in person would be like going into a candy store.
Cat, take lots of pictures and let us know how your visit goes.Hmmm, I think I'm only about an hour away. :~)
dave
Pictures, we need pictures.......
Many thanks for the reference to Martindale's. I sent an email yesterday on the availability of 9 hibiscus so I'll probably hear from them tomorrow.

Well after seeing this looks like I am going to have to get me a Zoey.
Dave,
He is only about an hour from you. From Mapquesting, looks like he is about 60 miles north of Tampa.
Which is pretty close to Gordo, as well
You guys should all meet up and have a Hibiscus buying party!!! I want to go too - at least in spirit ;-)
I'll looking forward to hearing proud tales of money spent and lots of pics too :-)
karen
Will definately do, on both, Karen :)
Cat, I cant go this week due to work, but please let us know how you make out.
Dave
Cat, I would love to know the name of the flower with the little green anole in the middle that is on the home page of Martindale's website. When you click on it it says "Don't mess with my pollen". It is a single salmon colored one.
Please, please. please, if you remember, please find out which it is and if there are any available. I have been obsessed with that color lately. Thanks
alice
I wonder if it is Twilight Magic. I sure like that one.
I love that one too but I think the one with the anole has a lighter center.
I'm betting that Cat will find out.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I ever went to Martindale's with my charge card in hand, I would have to stop off on the way home and buy LOTS of farm land...
... a tractor
... three tons of soil
... a new body (younger, more sprightly and cute)
... and a special house on the property for Mr. Martindale.
That should pretty well take care of that situation.
(unless of course, Mrs. Martindale has an objection to her super hibiscus grower of a husband being commandeered by an all thumbs-can't-propagate-worth-a-hoot mad gardener).
Addicted? Who, us?????
LOL
Oh Alice, just gorgeous. David sure had some beauties.
