Hoya imperialis peduncle

Largo, FL

Much to my surprise I found two peduncles like this on my Hoya imperialis this week. Both of these peduncles already have flower buds. I also found the beginnings of at least six more peduncles. I can't wait to see this in bloom:)

WOW...that is gonna be a mess of flowers!!!! Congrats...you are definitely the champion H. imperialis grower!!!!

Largo, FL

Thanks Carol. I am really looking forward to it blooming. As the buds have a red tint on the outside I'm hoping that this is a red or pink variety.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

It will probably be a deep deep red....maroon-ish. One of the loveliest in the pack!!!

Mr.Johnson,
I'm so flabbergasted at your imperialis picture - it looks like at bokay of cumquat's. I can't wait to see the actual blooms now! How big are the buds? Is there some place online that I can see a picture of different kinds of hoyas?

I'm with you Freddie ... those buds look so funky!!! My H. lobbii is getting ready to open, but I think the buds are groovy too - look at the "freckles" on the ones that were closer to the window.

Ann are those silver flecks on your lobbii??? While in the gh today I noticed that a lot of my hoyas seem to be displaying these silver specks now. Lambii,sp.1420,latifolia 88,and numerous others that i've never noticed them on are now sporting silver patches.

Yes, my lobbii gets lots of silver specs. I think it is related to higher levels of sun.

Fred,
The flowers buds are about 1/4" across. As I have never had this hoya bloom for me I'm not sure how big the flowers will be. From what I've read they can be several inches across. Try this link for some info and more pictures.

No, David, I think that those silver flecks are a fungus, and you should send that lambii Elliott to me. Then, when it is all healthy and nice looking again, I will send it back to you!! :)

Sara, that lambii that you speak of has just very recently swung into super overdrive as far as new growth goes ,the new leaves are huge and covered with those silver flecks!! And I have a feeling that pedunlces arent too far away!!!!

RUB IT IN!!!! RUB IT IN!!!!!!

Oooooo David, you are so not nice. I am telling ya, one day you will cease to be dmichael, and will become dlambii!!

Just for kicks, how about an updated picture, kind of like the last one you posted "just for me"!! I bet you pulled pig tails back when you were in grade school didn't you?

Hey Ann, I really like the speckled buds on your lobbii. That is one that I don't have either, I guess I thought it was like the cv. Iris Marie, or cembra, or paziae....you know, rather branching, but the leaves in your picture are very interesting looking. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the flowers.

Robin, 1/4 inch buds!! Wow, that is pretty amazing. I can't wait to see pictures. Please do show us more of your greenhouse too - I love to see how everyone grows their plants!!

Robin, thank you so much for the link and information. I am just amaxed at the different kinds of hoyas their are.

Okay Sara, Just because YOU requested them here are 2 new updated pics of MY H. lambii!!!! I tell you if you and I lived any closer to each other I would have some major concers about the safety of this plant!!!!

Though I really shouldnt be concerned because I have 2 rotts weighing in at 135lb each that guard my gh so intruders come in at their own risk and the pups only respond to one word and it aint hoya or lambii!!!!

Sighhhhhhh, dlambii, I am utterly speachless. Maybe instead of you sending that lambii to me tomorrow, I should just send mine to you, and let you grow it out for me.

David, What a wonderful looking lambii. If you ever get tired of it, I have room for it. And I would make a wonderful mommy!!! :)))))

Karen these 2 chow hounds that i have do love treats and they dont even come close to being rotts. They are actually chihuahua x peek-a-poo. Sisters from 2 different litters and they are strictly house dogs.

Sara that sounds like a plan and once it reaches hoya adulthood i'll gladly send it back to you but not before I remove no less than 12-16 nodes for myself!!!!

Binky, I think this is one hoya that I will always have in my collection and will never get tired of. It only took me 3 years to track someone down that was willing to part with a cutting and that was when I went in on my very first David Liddle consignment several years ago. If i'm not mistaken this plant is only 2 years old.

This pic of the blooms is not for my plant . It's just to show what the flowers will look like when and if I ever get any on my plant. The pic was taken by and is property of Michael Miyashiro and I hope I dont get any federal charges brought up against me for using it without permission!!!

OINK!!!!!!!

Awwww dlambii, I would gladly bail you out!! Even if you do insist on tormenting me with pictures of your awesome hoyas - HA! Of course if you were to have to do hard time, I would absolutely help out with hoya care.

S

edited to add: dlambii, are you sure that those tiny little dogs of yours aren't pachypoo crosses? With all those hoyas around, they could be something a little bit funky.

:)

Wow David that is a really nice hoya, I can see why Sara is drooling over it.

Robin, how are those buds comming along?

Ann, please show your lobbii when it blooms. I think I am in love with this hoya, but I just have to get the colors figured out on all of them, hmmm I will probably order them all anyway :)
