Canna Bird of Paradise 2007

Louisville, KY

This canna is a personal favorite of mine. I love odd foliage plants and this one has produced some amazing leaves that does not look like the other cannas I grow. Its a tall grower getting to 7 to 9 feet tall. The leaves can be over 3 foot long each and the flowers are small but a neon pink color. The leaves are very narrow and a gray bluish color with purple veins. It's one of those plants that you have to walk up to and really look at it before you go. OH it's a canna!

Last but not least my poor father after a long day of work is forced to hold up a leaf for scale.

Very striking, Brian. Does it have C. glauca in its heritage?

Sorry have been out of town. I am not completely sure the parents of this hybrid it was in a mixed tray. Tropicman I have some almost identical to the foliage you have. This form seems to be the most dramatic narrow form I have picked out so far. What flower color is yours producing? Very nice.

Well I have several, some seem to have a orangey to a coral ,I think it depends on the weather, more orange when very hot,and coral when temps are somewhat cooler.
If memory is right,I got these from a lady from south florida about 2 to 3 years ago, kept in a very shady bed,and they stayed under 3 ft,and never bloomed, but they came back every year, but then again they were planted close to the foundation of the house on the west side.
