Shopping for Alocasia

Garden Grove, CA(Zone 10a)

I would like to find an Alocasia that get pretty large leafs and has white veins in the leaf. Any suggestions? I like the Giant Borneo but I really like the look of the white veins in the leaf.
Thanks, Dave

I have been breeding plants that sound right up your alley. I recently crossed Macrorrhiza with Longloba then I grew that out and crossed it with borneo Giant. The seedlings are looking very interesting.

Do you have any photos of your plants?

Are they on your web site Brian? I'd like to see those too !!

Alocasia Brian Williams and Alocasia posidon spear are two hybrids I made using Macrorrhiza and the mother and Amazonica as the father. They grow to around 5 ro 6 feet tall. The new stuff I am working on is still very young.

Here is a pic of Alocasia Brian Williams. I will look into getting new photos of my newer stuff soon. Larriann is a breeding in south florida she also does some very odd hybrids. I dont think anything is availible though

Colocasia Nancy's Revenge is the closest that I can think of for what you are looking for. http://www.caladiumbulbs.com/images/nancys-revenge.jpg

How about an Alocasia Cadierii, They get about 4 foot and have the normal green leaves with white vains in the middle...

Louisville, KY

leaves get 2 to 3 feet.

I have not seen a Alocasia Cadierii in a long time. Mine never got over 3 feet tall. How big have you grown it?

Hi,

I have Cadieri and mine has never grown to more than about 3-1/2 feet tall. It is a nice plant though.

Alocasia Brian Williams is the largest Alocasia I have with the white veining. The leaves do not get as large as a Macro, though they are impressive, I think. Here's a picture of one of mine (in a sea of rampant syngonium and Clerodendrum coming from our neighbor's side). It has a nice stalk going.
