Just thought you might like to know that now is a great time to buy caterpillars and eggs. It occurs to me that this would be especially good for those who have planted every butterfly plant under the sun but have had no takers.
At one of my local nurseries, they have their fall herbs in stock. I found several cats and lots of eggs on the dill, fennel, and rue. The nice thing is, they all come with their own little plant;-)
I have 3 nurseries close to my house that have butterfly plants & herbs that are not treated. One grower is so pro-butterfly, he's not interested in having his stock cleared of cats- they are an added bonus for so many customers. Point being, if you look around, especially at the smaller nurseries, you can probably find some butterfly livestock.
