Can anyone put a name to this one.
It's a oldie but in my opinion a beauty.
I know it is at least 25 to 30 years old.... if not older.
I don't know where I would go to try and find it's name....do you?
For some unknown reason it is having a second blooming this year...the worst year we have had that I can remember...with record high temps. and we are going thru a long drought.
Any guesses or comments would be much appreciated.
Help with ID please
Don't know, but it's a beauty!
Thanks Hibiscus,
It's extra special to me since my mother who is a very young and vibrant woman at 86 gave me this start from hers last fall.
Jane,
Jane, my neighbor that is in her 80s too, said that hers was a native plant from KY and her father transplanted it to her yard years ago. She has red and a large white one. They tend to get leggy but have beautiful blooms. Are yours hardy?
Teresa
Hi Teresa,
I'm not sure of the growing zone but I live in zone 6a and it has always come back rearing to go each spring.
I have never really thought of it as being leggy but I do have to stake it up to keep it in control.
I bet your neighbors white one looks absolutely gorgeous beside the red one.
The blooms on mine get about 8-10" across.....is that about the same as your neighbors?
Jane
I believe they are that large. Are you going to the KYRU?
Teresa,
I want to come so bad.....but it's really so hard for me to plan anything with any degree of certainty, but we are hoping that everything works out, so we can attend,
It sounds like it will be a great time.
What could be better, than to be with friends who share the love of gardening, as we all do here on Dave's.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Jane
I will Jane.

Thanks so much diehrdsouthrnr,
Now I have a name to go with my hibiscus!
