Skittish Mouse

I've been having a small problem with my mouse lately and not sure what to do. My mouse doesn't seem to want to go where I want it to, sometimes it gets close to what I want clicked...but just won't go on it.

I'm still a novice about puters, so any help is welcome. I did try cleaning the little roll thing on the bottom.
