when to plant garlic in OK

Norman, OK

I am in Zone 7A and am wanting to plant garlic. Does anyone know the best time to do that in my region?

Thanks!

In the fall.

Audubon, PA(Zone 6b)

I'm originally from OK and it's usually planted there in mid- to late- OCT.

Good luck!

Is there a month that is best?

Thanks Cottonpicker! I was actually typing in my question about which month when you posted your reply, I guess!

The specialty garlics I ordered came yesterday. The instructions for planting say after the first frost. Plant 2" deep and cover with 5-6" of mulch.

Richmond, VA

The last week in October. Garlic does much better planted in cooler weather.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Aha! So I still have plenty of time to order... assuming everybody doesn't sell out!

I usually plant mine about mid to late October when it's cooler. I also have planted them the week before Thanksgiving as well and I am Zone 7b, not to different than yours. This year I have a variety from Spain and hot purple kind i think. I order mine from:

Good customer service, very informative on what type to plant based on your area, and a great garden starter package for those who don't know which kinds to plant. Enjoy.
