I've had my interest in Hoyas renewed in just the past week or so, and have been looking at so many pictures and reading so many threads in this forum. I know I'm not a regular in here, so in a way, I hate to ask for cuttings, but I'll never know if I don't try! :o)
The pictures of Hoya pubicalyx 'Royal Hawaiian Purple' (aka 'Chimera') 'Red Buttons' and 'Pink Silver' are simply breathtaking, and I love the little leaves of H. serpens. Would anyone here be able to spare a cutting or two of any of them?
I've only got a few hoyas, some that I think are carnosas of some variety, DS-70, brevialata, lacunosa, Krinkle something, and curtisii. They're not very big, so cuttings of them wouldn't be much to offer, but I've got Gesneriads and other houseplants I could offer cuttings of or I could send postage.
Thanks everyone! :o)
Here's a picture of my H. curtisii that a fellow DGer sent to me. What a cutie! :o)
Can anyone spare a cutting or two?
Brenda, what kind of mix is that you are using for those Kohleria cuttings? I have Pro-mix, Perlite and Vermiculite. I never thought to pack the bottom with Perlite and then top that with mix. Anyhow, I just did that to pot us some Episcia 'Pink Panther' stolons.
Oh that sounds wonderful, Brenda! :o) Thank you!
Of course we're still on for our swap! Funny you should ask because I started a list for each of my upcoming trades yesterday and was trying to remember which Strep leaves I sent you. If you can remember, dmail me what they were. I'm going to do my best to send you at least one leaf or baby from each of the varieties I have that I didn't send you before. I still feel like I owe you big-time for that beautiful little fella pictured up there and all the rest of the great things you sent me! :o)
Raingazer, I don't have any of the pubicalyx either, or I would surely send some on to you. I agree with you they do have some beautiful flowers don't they. Chimera is a real beauty. And serpens I kill every single time, so I don't have that one either. Sorry. Good luck on your hoya collection.
Oh goodness, Tami! I have probably picked some of the most difficult ones to want to grow, when I need just the opposite! LOL I never even thought of that... Those amazing flowers blocked all rational thought. Ah well, thank you very much for your willingness anyway. :o)
Grow Happy the picture I posted above is of very young Hoya Australis plants that I have grown from seed. The mix they are in is my best try at a light hoya mix :)) I did fill the bottom of the cups with perlite in some as I've read here that hoya cuttings like to get their roots into some perlite so I'm hoping seedlings to do.
I'm using the same type of set up with my kohlerias and other gessies only with a light AV soil. Over on the AV forum in the stickies is the info on the Texas Potting method for AV's and it will tell you all about the perlite in the bottom of the cups.
Sounds good Rain!! I lost two strep leaves from you but Cassandra and Kitten face are still rooting away so I have high hopes. Another month or so and the weather will still be good for shipping (from Idaho) and I'll have more to share. Both gessies and hoyas....
I'm off to update my H australis seedling thread.

RainGazer,
I have a small pubicalyx 'pink (or) purple - splash' plant that needs a new home and I could surely find some other cuttings to send along with it. I've actually been wanting to get some house plants recently (I have none until I bring in my Hoyas for the winter).
I've got to get out the door to work now but I'll write you later and maybe we can arrange a trade.
Take care,
-Andrew
Sounds wonderful, Andrew! I look forward to hearing from you. :o)
Thank you!
RainGazer, the pubicalyx are very easy to grow, and your right they do have some big amazing blooms. Serpens can be kind of tricky, for me anyway, but once you find what it likes it will reward you with some lovely blooms. Good Luck
Give me a holler through d-mail, I can send some cuttings to you.
:) Kim
