Beautiful tree! Does it stay that colour or does it green up?

Christie, that's what I love about it, the color seems to get richer instead of washing out with the summer heat! This photo was taken the end of August after a hot, dry summer :)

Does it need sun to stay purple, or does it turn green in shade?

daddw, I'm not sure how this Birch would do in shade as ours is planted in full sun. The photo was taken of a container of 'Royal Frost' growing under 30% shade cloth before it was planted in the gardens so it might hold the rich burgundy color as long as it wasn't planted in full shade? We've been really pleased with this tree - received them as 12"-15" seedlings and in just three years it's almost 6' tall!

I have been so happy with my tree, I bought another one! The fall colour is just electric! It rivals my neighbour's festival Maple and the false sumac!
