Beautiful blooms! Can you pick a favorite?

Sharon

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

mine is the first one!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Brugie they are all lovely but I have to say my favorite is the last one, I just love the long tendrils

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

All lovely! Good photography.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

They are all beautiful!!!...but I have to go with Maya as the best looking! I'm a sucker for anything variegated.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Love the unique flower of Culebra, but I'm drooling over the long tendrils of the seedling. So glad you are getting flowers to enjoy for at least a month before frost.

Tussee

Valley Springs, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh, I LOVE that Luminosa x ? seedling! Is it going to be named?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks for your nice comments, everyone.

Teresa, the Luminosa seedling will have to be trialed another year to see if it holds up well enough to be named. I'll look at it during the heat of today and if it is wimpy and doesn't recover by night, I probably won't keep it. Time will tell.

Gloria, it has to be the camera. LOL! I am no photographer for sure.

Thanks again.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Oh GRACIOUS me, utterly gorgeous, Brugie, Thanks for posting pics! I have several putting on buds right now, it would be nice to get another flush after this one, but I doubt the weather will cooperate... I have to say my fav is Mountain Magic, been on my want list since before it was offered commercially, I just LOVE that dark pink and they are so robust looking! They are ALL beautiful, but my all round fav is still Maya, cause she's such a performer. She blooms in my basement in winter; kind of strange looking with little or no leaves and there are these sweet smelling paler than normal blooms hanging down. I have to say, I get tied up in certain threads and have to remind myself there are other threads being started and I'm missing out! If only I didn't have to work to support my addiction! lol Keep em comin' Brugie!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow... heavenly pictures! I love that seedling too.. Gotta love those twangers! MM sure has good color.. what a bunch of great photos! Thank you for posting!

Valley Springs, CA(Zone 9a)

Shirley, let me know if you *need* that seedling trialed in CA...;)

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Sweet Cakes looks so dainty and girlie-girl pink! Precious!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

AuntB, I love her dainty look and the color is good too, tho last October in the house, she was darker. That's okay tho. Pink in the summer, dark pink in the fall. Two looks for the price of one.

Teresa, I'm afraid that the one with the long tendrils isn't going to make the cut. It wimped out at 89 degrees. I mean totally. Those blooms absolutely fried. Hopefully there will be more and better ones to bloom before frost.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed my pictures. It's fun to share and here I was afraid that I wasn't even going to have a bloom this summer. LOL!

Minneapolis, MN(Zone 4a)

Brugie,
Wonderful pix; thanks for sharing. I particularly like Culebra, which is a most unusual one.

Susan in Minneapolis

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, I love Baby Cakes. I'm such a sucker for pink. Sigh....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sylvia...Sweet Cakes is your kind of pink. LOL!

Susan, here is a picture I took today. She has six or seven open blooms right now with a lot more to come. The blooms last longer than most of my other brug blooms.

Ahhh, Shirley, that Culebra is gorgeous! Mine was the best mite attractor I've run across. No matter what I did, I could not keep them off. (This was after Avid but before Forgid.) 'Gave her away.

You must have wonderful growing skills, but of course you have had so much practice!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kay, thanks for the nice comments, but poor Culebra is dropping leaves like crazy. No mites now, but maybe shorter days is doing it. Everything pretty much had to make it this summer without pampering. It was too hot. I sprayed and watered. Yellowed leaves stayed on the plants until they dropped. Not a pretty sight. LOL!

Sweet Cakes got a bit darker with the warm, humid weather. Unlike the first bloom that remained pale and wide open, each bloom since has been the pale pink for a day or even two and then gradually darkens, much like many brugs do. You can see the heat damage on the calyx. It's been brutal here this year. Her tendrils are nice.

Thanks Donna. I'm already thinking about next summer. LOL!

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Hello,

I just moved to pensacola from ny and I am loving it here. I would love a cutting of your shredded white if you ever have one I have some I can send you as well

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Shirley, just gorgeous pics...love them all...have to say the culebra looks very exotic .....thanks for sharing the pictures...Judy

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

pensacolagarden, I don't have the Shredded White brugmansia, if you were talking to me. I'm sorry, but thanks to everyone for their nice comments about the brugs I pictured. The season will be over in a month or less, so now the work begins again.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Hey Brugie,

Nice flowers I am addicted to them I have a few and will have many more by this time next year.

James

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Good for you, James. You will become very addicted to growing them from cuttings and seed. It's good that you live in a warm area..........see below:

A big surprise for Iowa. Tonight we will probably get a frost and the weather man said that they may have to change the frost warning in northern Iowa to a freeze warning. This is a good three weeks early for us. I've got my hibiscus moved and ready to put in the garage this afternoon. The brugs are on their own.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Brugie!!!!!!!! frost already, oh my,
wish I was close enough to get some of your brugs befor they get damaged, the dry weather had realy done it damage on mine, I doubt if I will have more than five that will make it.

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh Shirley dont say your brugs are on their own..Im so not looking forward to the freezing temps and the moving of all my plants...Judy

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

They have changed it to 38 degrees and the frost stops with the county just north of us. That's about 15 miles from me. They will be okay as long as they don't freeze. They might just look a little sick around the edges. LOL!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Yep, yu'all are also lucky because you live on the same side of the fence....lol.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

I hate hearing the words frost and freezing, but I guess it will happen. Let's hope we get to see some more of our blooms before it happens!
Bonnie

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Crossing my fingers for anyone threatened with frost tonight.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)
