Green Heron? not sure about this one.

Saw this guy out front yesterday. Picture is not good because I held the camera up to the spotting scope, but I think it may show enough to identify this bird. Can anyone help?

Yep...Green Heron

I hope I can figure out this spotting scope thing. Here is a great white egret at full zoom on the camera. (taken outside from our deck)

Thanks Ned, wow are you fast. Happy to see this bird.

This next picture shows the same egret, through the scope, (though the dirty windows of the house).
Is that his lunch stuck in that throat?

As you can see, if I get this spotting scope thing down, it will be quite an improvement.

Nope, that's just the kink in the neck that all herons have to a greater or lesser extent. Probably something to do with rapid-fire neck extension to catch fish.

Thanks Resin, it is quite a knot in the neck.
I do see them eating constantly, but not the bigger stuff like the blue heron.
They are sure fast at striking in the water though.
