Can anyone tell me what this is? They suddenly showed up out of nowhere.
Caterpiller ID please
Oh heck, I don't know what they are, but in my experience when something shows up in that amount of numbers, it's usually not good. You might try posting it in Garden Foes to see if anybody there knows what it is.
Thanks. I'll do that.
Hi Terryr! Hope all is well, haven't seen you visiting the Bf forum....too busy? You must have a life lol
Sheeba, I posted on the bf thread, I think they are Walnut caterpillars from the Walnut Caterpillar Moth. I put a link over there with a pic of them.
Hi fly_girl, yep, been a little busy. I'll have to go over there now though to see if this wormy thing is a bad thing or a good thing...lol.....
Yep, that's it. They are definately Walnut caterpillars . THANKS SO MUCH for your help!
I couldn't find the thread in the butterfly forum? ;(
Sheeba, Deb thought they might be the Yellow-Necked cats....they are in the same Genus, so I'm really not exactly sure which one. I think she put a link for that one. It seems the Yellow Necked have a yellow band by their head, I couldn't tell from your pic.
Terry, they are on the Daily Butterflies thread, 15 or 16
