Do any of you go to them, enter anything etc.?
We'll be going to the 140th Annual Saanich Fall Fair this weekend. It's got everything from a midway with rides, 4-H demonstrations, garden exhibits, both vegi and flowers, but the most exciting for me is the horse shows. In particular are the 1 & 2 log pull. These are done with either a single horse or a team of 2. The drag the logs behind, through a course doing figure of eights with out knocking down the markers. Then they have the horse(s) do a 1' - 2' - 3' pull and measure to see how close they are to the correct lengths.
Here's their official web site. http://www.saanichfair.ca/did_you_know.htm

Always took grandson to Saanich. He still insists his mother takes him every year. Such fun.

Hi there,
I am a Canadian (fr Calgary) living down in the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is a zone 8b.
Always like to see what's going on in Canada, hard to believe that Victoria is the same zone?
Victoria is one of my favorite places in the world! Have a brother on Old West Saanich road.
Would love to hear about gardening there.
Cheers
Gk
