Blooms for 8-30-07

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm surprised it's this late in the day and nobody started a thread yet...

Here's Purple Magic (which actually bloomed on the 27th and 28th but I didn't get the pics uploaded until now):

And here's a brand new one for me...arrived in a box yesterday (from David) and bloomed today!

Both beautiful! What is the yellow from David, it's really pretty :-)

I've got a few in addition to the "two new" post.

First, old reliable Cinnamon Girl.

Two pretty blooms on Soft Spot today.

I caught a picture of the lovely Voodoo Queen in her transition from peach to yellow edged.

I'm surprised with the heat that Cajun Blue came out to play.

Moonstruck with a big red eye.

Mango Tango put on a grand show for the waterfall, but I wasn't in a rock-climbing frame of mind. I still thought the picture came out kinda cool though ;-)

But my favorite "not new" bloom for today is Key Largo. There were two blooms that looked just like this. I'm really into this plant!

I can't remember who said yesterday that they floated the blooms in a vintage punchbowl, but I thought that was a terrific idea! I knew the blooms wouldn't last more than an hour in the heat today, so I went ahead and clipped and brought them in. Following the punch bowl lead, I decided to put the blooms into some pink depression glass pieces I inherited from my grandma :-)

The blooms in this one are Suede Buttons & Lady in Waiting in the front, with Moonstruck and a Key Largo in the back.

And this compote has the two Soft Spots and a Key Largo.

Have a wonderful evening!

Oops--my yellow one was Evangeline, guess I was so excited I forgot to put the name in!

You guys are taking my breath away!! Here's my only bloom pic for the day ... Rum Runner ... in the evening ...

Rum Runner is always a gorgeous one! I'm not sure why I don't have it yet...guess that's another one for my list!

Great Rum Runner, Amanda. Mine hasn't bloomed in a few days :-(

Okay, Evangaline is on the list now. I'm expecting a box from David next week, and I can hardly wait! Is it any wonder I'm always broke? Groceries, who needs'em?

Plum Crazy showed her face today, but between vet appointments and unpacking my new shipment of hibs (thank you Robert), I had no time to take pics.
Will definately take pics tomorrow, if I have some new blooms.

PS...
love the flowers in the floating bowls. What a great idea!

Thanks, guys!! Yeah, I love Rum Runner and how it changes ... I don't get too many blooms on mine either but it sure is doing a LOT better than some of my regulars. One of my Rum Runners almost died because we left it out in a pot uncared for for too long ... this was while we were trying to sod our backyard and plan out our flowerbeds. I planted it in the ground just in time, and although its doing much better now (no more stress at all), it is slow to put on new growth. So ... I think it will fully recover by next season. At least I hope so. :)
