Fly me to the Moon!

So many people had their cameras a snapping the other night, that I thought I'd start a thread for pics of that glorious light show. If you know friends in other forums that have posted pics, let's see if we can get them to repeat them here. I've been trying to make all the pretty collages, but I'm just not good enough with those photo programs. So here is the first one - taken from the roof of one of our radar sites...

Here is one a little later...you can see the dragon eating up the moon!

Beautiful!! I was sound asleep when it was happening. Wish I could have been awake for it.

Total Eclipse! With the naked eye it looked like a huge pink opal on a black velvet blanket of diamonds....these tiny stars you see in the picture - I have never seen them before because the moon always shines too brightly. I was like a little kid - ooohing and ahhhing like the 4th of july!

I'm so glad you understand my efusiveness here. Everyone should see this glorious spectacle in a crystal clear sky at least once in their lifetimes. It just took me a really long time! This is one that DD took in soft focus....I am posting it because it shows how bright the moon was coming out of the umbra....

Lovely pics Sharri, thanks for sharing with us - I was too lazy to get up! Acually we were rather cloudy here in Kihei, but people went up to the top of Haleakala and said it was spectacular!

Oh, I'm sure it was from there! That would be so cool! Okay, next time that's where I'm heading!

I saw it in Florida but it was starting to get light when the moon re-emerged so we didn't see the final stage. Those are beautiful shots!
I agree it was a once-in a lifetime event. Right up there with the total eclipse of the sun we watched in - was it 2001? We were in Salzburg Austria for that, prime viewing area. Absolutely amazing.

Have saved to the hard drive and think I will print a series and frame. Would look very nice in a line. Thank you for sharing.

Be sure to check out the shots in Australian Gardening, and probably a few others....there are some really great ones out there that make these look pretty puny...but that's okay,,,we took these for our own pleasure and as a reminder of an incredible event.

Home , And now Loading Pics and weeding Garden after last weeks 9'' of rain .

It was on a Bush Walking Trail .
Very well camouflaged .

I'd forgotten how you two play off each other! So, why is that bad? It's a little blurry - but you said it was well camouflaged...could not have been easy to take...is this a subject joke? Oh my, here we go again!
