I will harvest some of this seed for those who are interested around the middle of Sept. Will send 15 to 20 seeds.
The following USDA site shows the large areas of the country where it is native:
http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ASSY
This site gives protocal for germination:
http://www.nativeplantnetwork.org/network/view.asp?protocol_id=1489
Remember we probably get temperatures below freezing for up to 4 months each winter, so give it a good chilling as described in the protocal site.
I'll do this for postage or for fresh seeds of a plant I might use as a host or food plant for butterflies in Iowa. Please include germination directions for traded seeds. Offer good to the first 10 people who respond.
So let me know if you are interested.
Photo of the plant in my flowerbed below.
Edited to say just send me your add. in a personal dmail; then after you receive seeds you can return seed or postage.

I was surprised it showed everywhere in the area but not Florida. However, it doesn't show my particuliar county in Iowa either but it's thick here.
BlueGlancer, Colleen and Cathy, Just send your add. in a private email. Seeds of anything butterflies relish in your garden that I could grow is good in exchange. I'll let you know when I send.
Oh......it's native to Texas, I would love to try some if you have any left.
Thanks,
Rox
I would love to have some! I have Tropical milkweed or I can send postage.
