ID help ....again:)

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

This creeper came up about 2 months ago. I like it but what is it? I usually get these things solved by Texans, actually it's usually Frostweed. Josephine, do you know this one?

Frog-fruit, Phyla incisa (from Wildflowers of Houston & Southeast Texas) Dave's Garden lists it as Plyla nodiflora, currently the accepted name. I looked it up on several Texas .edu sites. All listed it as P. incisa. I guess Texans have to be different.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks Bettydee! It looks like it's a keeper! I have never seen it around here, so I don't know where it came from, but I'll be more than happy to have it.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

It looks like it would make a good groundcover.

Sorry I wasn't around when you asked the question, but Bettydee hit it just right.
Since the plant likes to trail, I also use it in a hanging pot and it looks great.
We have it at the Wildscape and it makes a great groundcover.

That's alright, Josephine! Good idea with potting it! Will it be an evergreen here, in the ground or in a pot? It's so cool with it's lobelia-shaped leaves, and the little globes of dainty flowers! Not to mention it's really unique name, Turkey Tangle Frogfruit! I love it!

It is semi evergreen except if we have a freeze it goes dormant, but it is very hardy.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I love this in my Iris area - it keeps the weeds down and the plants happy.

Lago Vista, TX(Zone 8b)

Also larval host of the Phaon Cresent butterfly!
