I posted in the plant ID forum but so far not much in what they are other then they might be but I have been looking and it is hard not knowing things by the proper name.
Any idea what this plant is?
Hubby broke the stems off before I could stop him but I do have the seed pods if it is something I would want to keep
these seed pods make me think of fishing sinkers
Is it a vine, Mibus? It's hard to tell the size.
I can't tell either, the leaves look sort of like willow, but i don't know it is a tree.
I took a piece of it to work and the boss pulled out one of his books and we think it is the rattle bush.
as far a a vine I don't know hubby had it yanked before I could really see all of it from the ground out.
but it rattles when you shake the pods.
the stem part looks like a winged elm and on the top of the pods it has 4 lil leaves.
I have a rattle bush Sesbania drummondii, but it doesn't look like that, of course it could be a different kind, here is the link to mine.

Josephine.
well as usual I can't tell what the flowers look like as it is too late LOL but if anyone can tell by the seeds as to what it really is that would help.
Hubby and son are laughing at me today... I went out and cut off a small bamboo then stripped the branches off but I kept some of the longer ones, removed the leaves and have it soaking in water then I went out and found a bunch of wisteria runners and pulled them up and have stripped the outside bark off of them and have them soaking in some water for right now. They laughed and said what ya gonna do make baskets? And I told them yeah got a problem with that.
I figure why not give ti a shot, I won't be wasting materials as far as something I had to go out and buy it is all right here in the yard and we want to clean some of it up anyway.
so IF I get it figured out from the stuff I found on the web maybe I can bring a basket or two in October for the door prizes. BUT keep in mind that it is an IF lol

Well, aren't you Ms Talented!!! If the parts are readily available, why not make the effort! You may find a new calling or talent you never you had. Can't wait to see pix! Good luck & weave those blades!
:~)
Well Smockette you don't have to wait long to see my first attempt....remember it is my first one using just stuff I printed off the web as guides and it is "unfinished" as far as staining or sealing.
This was done with the wisteria vines I stripped the outer bark off and soaked it in water for a lil bit then started at 11pm last night and I finished at 4:30 this morning *giggles*
and I thought about it after I went to bed hey i have yucca and you can use the leaves off those too so I may go cut some leaves today to make cordage and try a different way on the next one.

Well, like I said, Ms Talented, that is just adorable! Great door prize!
I knew you could do it!
:~)
And she stayed up for 11pm till 4.30am, I guess you just couldn't wait to see the results?
Very nice work I must say.
Josephine.
Thanks and as to staying up yeah I wanted to see how it would go plus since hubby and son both laughed I had to make them eat their laughter lol

Ok I need to pick brains again lol hubby went on a mowing mission today and mowed off some weeds as he was showing me where he had been I turned around towards the bamboo and found a tree ...DUH you say bamboo is a tree ..yeah well not those trees but this one.
I hope the picture is clear enough I snipped off a twig to bring in for a close shot then leaving it on the tree and the tree has alot of the seed pods I guess they are on it.
Pretty lil pink flowers too
Crepe Myrtle, very pretty.
it is???????? YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the pods where the flowers are do have seeds in them?
So I can save them and plant maybe this winter to start them inside????
or do I take cuttings???
I know sounds silly but to me the only dumb question is one not asked and I have no idea on these
You can take cuttings or try the seed, but be sure the seed is mature, brown, when you take it. I suppose the crepe myrtle is still there and your husband didn't cut it too, but even if he did,it will come back from the roots if you let it.
No he didn't' cut it it is a nice size tree/bush.
what he has been mowing is in the areas where it's tall weeds around the bamboo and peach trees.
so we can get into them and see what all the trees are growing back there.
We even found more Yucca that had bloomed sometime this summer and have pods on them and we found another wood/trash pile to clean out too.
Heck since I made the basket and have been talking of what we are finding and IDing with DGer's help he is not just clearing without thinking.
And we have a stack of bamboo he has cut that we are going to try our hand at drying and using to make things.
I know alot of stuff is going to come back even after cutting but at least it will be manageable and I can dig things up and move them into "beds" instead of having an overgrown mess like we have now. *S*
