Hubby brought this home from the veggie market/stand. The cashier told him it is a houseplant, but I'm not too sure. Looks like some kind of EE to me???? I love the odd pattern on the underside of the leaves :)

It is an alocasia.

There are a few that look alike, so I am uncertain which.

Could it be x amazonica?

Thanks so much!! I think that is the one, waxy leaves and all.

I have amazonica and Polly and it looks like Polly to me, it's leaves are shorter and stubber and thicker than amazonica-which is how your leaves look.

It looks a lot like the Polly I have, which only leafed out two weeks ago. It's obviously confused about the seasons.

I purchased a plant that looks exactly like yours .. I thought it was some type of alocasia but the lady at the nursery said it was a begonia?! I have sinced looked up various "angel wing" begonias, but I still think it is probably an alocasia.
