Can we finally ID this Ginger?

Lexington, SC(Zone 8a)

I finally think I have a way to ID a ginger I brought home from Maui in 2005, but unfortunately I missed what appears to have been it's bloom. I had it against the house and this appeared against the house, so I never saw it until I moved it. I'm just dying to know what type of Ginger this is and I think this is the clue I needed to provide. Before it just looked like most any other ginger. I've long suspected this is Yellow Ginger (not Kahili - which I also grow here in SC quite well[indoors of course]). Any professional opinions?

I'll get another shot of the leaves alone and post below.

Thanks

Thanks a million. I would have *never* figured that out.

Not a professional but I have some too, but it hasn't flowered yet. Glad to be able to help. When the flowers get really red you can squeeze the juice and that's the shampoo stuff.

Are there any seeds tied to the "pod" or no? Not that I'd really need them... it spreads like crazy in the pot and has nearly taken over the Ti it's planted with.

gosh, someone experienced would need to answer that...lol

Thanks, I'm just glad you were able to ID it. It's bugged me for a while.

Ironically, I looked at some photos taken by the USGS in Hawaii (of local plant species) and this was listed as one of the plants from the exact location I obtained it. Finally can put a name with the plant. Thanks again.

Mine haven't produced seeds but do grow rhizomes for the next coming growing season underground..and gets bigger every year!..LOL...

Have had great luck this first season to grow the shampoo. Presently there is one bloom.
Don't know if it will come back next spring if I leave it in the ground. No doubt a freeze will get the top growth. The variegated ginger from last year did return. Have tons of EE that die and come back....also banana trees. Would really hate to loose this one. Planted 4 rhizomes and have about 10 plants from them. Help.
