When I went out for my morning walkabout and looked at the rain gauge my jaw dropped .. I knew it had rained last night ......

Amazing, isn't it? We got about 1/2" last night. If this keeps up, we'll be spoiled. :)

1/4" of rain a day about for 3 days

Johns Island, SC

We got about 1/2" here Deb. Enough so I don't have to lug out the watering cans for all the "newbies" planted this year for another day or two. Praise the Lord! I'm tired of hauling water! Now if we could just get a serious rain here, I'd be a happy camper!

Raining again this morning. This must be over the whole coastal area. Hope so, anyway.
Stono: You need a sprinkler system! That's alot of area to be covering with a watering can. ;->

How beautiful X.

When I lived in S'ville one of the houses at the 5 pts. intersection had hundreds of rain lilies mixed in with the grass on their front lawn. When we would be stopped at the traffic light on a rainy day I would just drool over that sea of pink.

Thanks .. I grew a bunch from seeds and after 2 years of not blooming in pots i dotted them all over the yard .. about a month later they all started blooming.

My rain lilies have just started over the past couple of days. This is the first year I planted them and was beginning to think it wasn't going to happen. (I just have white ones, tho.)
Thanks to last night's rain, we're up to 3 1/4 inches for the past 7 days. Luxury!! :)

Weather channel this morning showed a stationary front that's supposed to keep us having off and on showers all through the Carolinas for the next couple of days.
That's what they said anyway.

X, I was getting seeds from mine.....way back when we were getting a little more rain, and I just let the pods spill cause I didn't know how to mess with the seeds. Are they easy to grow?

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Yes they are .. the only downside is that it takes a year or two for them to start blooming.

Looks like I can get seeds from the little guys. Any suggestion on how to collect the seeds? Can I cut them off and dry them indoors or is this one that needs to ripen on the plant?
Deb

Let it ripen on the plant. Here's a pic of what it looks like .. i cut them off and harvest the seeds when the pod starts to split.

X - Do you know which rain lily it is you have there? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=3909384

I've never even heard of them before, but they're adorable. I looked them up, but there are about a zillion different varieties.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

The pink is Zephyranthes grandiflora and my yellow is Zephyranthes citrina. I don't have any whites.
