Pterocactus (Pterocactus fischeri)
Bob,
I am pretty sure that the plant on this photo and the next is not Ptero australis but Ptero fischeri. Ptero australis has ball to pear shaped segments, while Ptero fischerii has cylindrical branches which can grow longer every year.
I remember that once ISI offered P. australis and what I received was definitely P. fischeri, which made me happy, because that way I had a second clone of P. fischeri (the first I got from the Ptero-expert Roberto Kiesling!) and thus could produce seeds. Thanks to the seeds I now have 8 different clones.
Jordi
You feel confident enough for me to move the photo?
Yes, I do!
OK, I requested the move
