I almost feel guilty geing so happy to have rain with what some of you are going through, but it's absolutely amazing how the yard and gardens have responded to the moisture. The grass is trying to turn green again and the corn is growing right out the end of the husks. My cucumbers have doubled in size in three days and last night there were 12 blooms on a single datura plant. I thought all my toads were gone, but last night I went out on the deck and there were 6 of them. One was the really fat toad that I posted photos of earlier this summer. I put a small light close to the ground to attract bugs for them and they all had a good meal. The fat one was stil sitting there this morning. I think he was too full to move!
Rain, at last
I am happy about all this rain. We sure needed it. It takes a week of rain to compensate for the drought we were in.
Im happy about all the rain also. The Kalamazoo River is finally back up to the level it is suppose to be. But, everything needs to dry out a little bit.. It smells musty outside it has rained some every day here for about 1 1/2 weeks straight. Did we ever have a storm here on thursday night the 23rd!!!! Ive never seen such a massive thunder head... It was really cool watching the storm coming in. Then it was gone in a bout 20 mins. Just a nice soft rain after that. Its ever raining right now. But its nice and cool outside we needed that too. My son is in Fort Knox right now in Basic Training for the Army and he writes that it over 100 everyday, and they are sweldering with all there gear on. But its the summer time. Well maybe it will stop raining for a day or so soon. Soon we can complain about all the snow hahahaha. Ronna
Count me in as being happy with the rain. Here in AuGres we just had a little but yesterday and today we've had real downpours. Everything is greening up again. You can almost "hear" the trees sucking up the moisture. The sun is out now though. Glad I got the fields all mowed and outside chores done. Now to finish up the laundry. :)
Have a great weekend everyone!
Brenda
