looking for Jerusalem Artichoke, Sunchoke for a neighbor

Port Saint Lucie, FL(Zone 9b)

In our local paper is a section called the Good Neighbor. In there this week someone was looking for how to get sunchokes or sunflower roots. Can anyone help me help them?

Carson City, NV(Zone 6b)

I have a small bed full of plants. I will probably harvest next month and I usually save the small tubers for replanting. You can also grow the ones that you find at the grocery store (unless they are shriveled or moldy).

Emma, That is cool. Could I get them soon or do they have to wait?

I think that Fedco offers a couple of named varieties in their Moose Tubers catalog. I could also provide some small tubers for postage in November. I have two different varieties, but routinely pull them up throughout the year as they spread every year - means I'm not sure what I will end up with at the end of the year, but always have something.

A local grocery has tubers. I think about $3/libra. Sunflower tubers are easier to eat than real artichokes

Hi Chris,

I can send you plants now. I wish I had known you in the spring because I cleared out an entire bed of these to grow more of my Morning Glory vines.

I'll have a look and see how many I have and will ship you as many as you would like. They are late bloomers for my zone so I imagine that you will be able to enjoy the blooms this year. I'll probably have to cut them back but can leave some of the growth if you like.

I'll also look for photos from last year that I have on one of my DVD's and post for you.

d-Mail me your address, and Thanks. . .

Emma
