Sorry,I think I may have posted on the wrong forum...after I posted on here I noticed the Bug and Insect Identification forum.Maybe I will try posting it on there.I gotta learn to read.lol

Don't run away yet Nancy! There is another forum for ID but you are definitely in the right place here!

It's not something I see but I'm going to guess a Great Spangled Fritillary. I'll look it up later or someone else can confirm or make a correct ID. I just don't want you to feel ignored!

It doesn't take much for them to become addicting! That's why there is a whole forum for "us"! :)

What are your other gardening addictions? Gardening for butterflies actually lets me be addicted to quite a few things: butterflies, caterpillars, nectar plants, host plants, seeds... it could be worse, right?

So pretty...I have fritillary envy. I only get Gulf Frits and they're nice, but I like the other ones too! Paige is right, I like that my passion for native plants goes hand in hand with raising cats and butterflies.

Last year I had some Variegated Frits for the first time. I kept thinking something just wasn't the same about the cats but thought I was just imagining it until one made a chrysalis and then I knew it.

The chrysalis and the butterflies were just beautiful. Here's a pic of the chrysalis

Konkreteblond, that pic of your frit, he is on a black eyed susan vine, right? I have one of those, just not blooming. I think it is tired from the summer. I have to keep it watered pretty good to keep it from wilting much less blooming. But I don't think I have ever had one of those beauties. Great pics. Love the chrysalid.

I also have the Black Eyed Susan vine and it blooms most of the year. It attracts mostly Sulphurs. More of all types go to the POB than any thing else we have. The Monarchs and their kin like the Mexican milkweed best.

Paige, that VF chrysalis is beautiful!

Cedar, the GSFrit is a beaut too!
