CLOSED: CLOSED: Wanted: Lantana

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

I havent done this before but would like to trade for some lantana which I fell in love with this summer. Would like rooted cuttings if possible. ( How hard are these to grow from seed?) I have red hibiscus seeds and EE's and lunaria and coleus and wild daylily other stuff. Pic is of my hibiscus.

jadajoy,
I have this variety of lantana available http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/149613/
as well as a golden yellow and a trailing purple. I know I'll have to root the golden yellow and purple, but can possibly just dig a volunteer of the other variety. I also have some different coleus varieties. Let me know and I can take some pics of the coleus to see if you'd like some cuttings of them as well.
Let me know and I'll start rooting some cuttings on Sunday! What kind of ee's do you have? I have the same hibiscus isn't it just amazing the size the blooms:0)

jadajoy,

I have Orange/Yellow Lantana seedlings THAT GROW FAST!
I'll have to take a look and see how many. My neighbor just cleaned them out for me, but I'm sure there are still some there.

I also have one like in the photo above that is a MATURE PLANT that needs a home.

Let me know if you are interested because I'll need to pot them up to be sure they settle down [They don't like being transplanted. They drop their leaves, but almost always make it]

lantana are pretty hard to move.I had tons to give away and no one wanted them and Just the oter day I dug them up and off to the trash they went. Wish that you could had them all.

Keep in mind, the hardy perrenial type is Ms. Huff. Ms. Huff has been coming back in my garden for about 3 years now in zone 7b. Thanks.

I can send cuttings of lantana. Orange, red, purple, or yellow. I need to prune mine now so good time for sharing. Cuttings of these are very easy to root and many different species of butterflies will be in your yard all summer. I'm talking swarms of butterflies.

Molly, when sending cuttings, whats the best way to do this? Just clip some off and then send them to that the rcv'er would root them?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Crazy,

I will be sending them with the cut end wrapped in a damp paper towel and secured in cling wrap.

I found this past week, they will not root in water sorb crystals. They will do better in water or in soil.
