OT thought you all

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

would like to see a pic of my dahlia imperialis (aka) tree dahlia which i've read can reach heights of 25-30 ft or more. The gh behind it is 9ft high so that should give you some idea of how tall the plant currently is. I kept it in my big gh last year and it grew to over 10ft then touched the roof of the gh,bent itself over and grew at least another 4ft. This year it's staying in the ground as it should be cold hardy here. It blooms single petaled lavender flowers that should begin to appear soon,I hope!!!

Gorgeous!!

Is this your first year growing it David? I have one that is 10' tall and it will start setting buds about the time the first frost hits! I have had the plant for at least 5 years and it has returned every spring. You have got one zone on me and that will give you a better chance at a bloom before frost. I think you can safely leave it in the ground and free up more space in your greenhouse.

I bet that is going to beautiful. I guess I could go look it up, but do the blooms look a dahlia? That is going to be gorgeous. Mel do you lose all your buds then, or are you able to see it bloom? I need to go look this one up.
