Hi guys,
I see you all have been (are) busy here. I've been off focusing on other plant families for a bit.
The word is that there has been some reclassification of Saintpaulia species, as published by Iaian Daryshire in Flora of Tropical East Africa. The changes are summarized over at Wikipedia, of all places. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saintpaulia
So the plant in the photo from our local chapter show was Saintpaulia pendula 'Kizarae' but is now S. ionantha ssp. pendula 'Kizarae'.
reclassification of some Saintpaulia species
Interesting! That seems to indicate that they have rolled quite a few of the species into ionantha and made subspecies of the former. Am I correct on that?
Want to be our official reclassification notification person? ;o)
That's what it seems to do.
I don't keep track of these things that much, but I do take note when John Boggan says taxonomical changes have happened. (You'll see his name on the Checklist of Gesneriaceae maintained by the Smithsonian.)
Hey Ki,
Just wanted to say Hi to you.Haven't seen you in awhile.
Hi!
I'm just a bit over-extended at the moment so not much time for forum activity anywhere.....
