Im about to throw this one out, Cause Ijust don't like the looks of it.
It's been super hot, but not bad this week, no rain but once last week. and every other day in July. Reeking havock onall the plants.
Think that has something to do wtih the splitting wide open like this on the stems of my weis pousanne? Is it some sort of disease?
Needless to say, it's not healthy, and it's going into the burn pile but i'dlike to get some opinions, as i'venever had this happen before.
Strangest thing going on with weis pousanne
That's exactly what happened to my DrSuess and Jami this year and DrSuess last year too... both yellow suaves.. I thought it was common, but I guess not! I tossed em, and don't want any more. Nothing else has done that as of yet. The DrSuess cuttings were not from the same source.. but ended up with the exact same symptoms. All 3 plants were in perfect health to start with.. it was after their first flush the problems started. It didn't stop them from blooming.. but it was horrible to look at!
Here is what I posted last year about it.

So, we never did find out what it was that was causing this condition?
Where's all of our Brug Gurus?
I'm thinking no one knows. See also http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/762583/
No Guru here. I do remember one breeder talking about one that would split if given too much water. Don't remember which one it was, or if this is the same.
Kathy, I was wondering if you have a snail problem (most of us do)?
To me, it looks like you may of had some snail (s) chowing down on the soft stem, then as the plant is trying to recoup, it is "scabbing" over. It does not look like any kind of disease at all to me.
I get snails all the time, but have only seen them in side the greenhouse. Not often on the plants outside.
This plant too hasn't been over watered, ifanything it's been mal treated. with no water LOL. I t was alot farther away from the water hose and neglected. but I moved it closer, and this is what happens. so It is getting more water than it use to,
If I had to guess, I would probably say a combination of water and heat or humidity and heat. I have had the same problem in the past, just not quite as severe.
