source of hardy water lily seeds

Floyd, VA(Zone 6b)

I love to grow things from seed. After looking at instructions, I think I could do it. Does anyone know a source of the seeds. I think lotus might be a bit too large for my pond.

There are smaller lotus also. I have two small ones that I grew in a 20 gal. "pond" last year. I moved them to their own "pond" this year. I have a few seed left from last year for 'Empress' and I could get you the other kind later when they dry. I started with 1 tuber and 1 leaf on each kind last year and they have gone nuts this year, they didn't seem to mind being crowded last year at all.

How do you harvest the seed? We have a small lotus and I harvested the pods, but the seeds just shriveled and dried up. What is the timing for cutting them?

I am not sure about the timing but if they are small they just may not be large enough yet. If you go to the Victoria Adventure site, there is lots of info there.

I got some seed from a friend for a huge new (new to me anyway) lotus and I am going to try it this winter indoors. I purchased the lotus I had last year when they already had one leaf on them. Those 2 plants have gone nuts. I have one in a 90 gal black 'pond' like you buy at Walmart or somewhere like that and it has filled that tub this year. The other one I have in a liner pond that is about 6'x8' and it has filled that about 3/4 full. I hope I dug them deep enough so they don't freeze solid.
