This is what happens when you leave a 1 gal pot of p. edulis var flavicarpa sitting on the ground in one place too long. LOL I used to use this structure for breeding birds years ago and more recently as a shade/greenhouse depending on the weather. It has since lost the roof but still serves to protect some of my rarer plants from being run over by the dogs. Anyway 2 years ago, I was overwintered a young seeding of this passi and had it in a 1 gal pot. I ran out of room on the shelves I was using so I set in on the ground and promptly forgot about it till spring. Well, when I went to move it, it had grown through the pot and firmly into the ground and had started to take off. Within the first year, it had taken over a major part of the structure and formed a great natural canopy over the roofless top weaving amongst the rafters. It flowers well and produced a few fruit, This spring, I cut it drastically back as I have vigna caracalla on the far right end and it was encroaching it's space. Well, this is what it has done since spring.
I recently gave away several plants from last years seeds to some freecyclers and am awaiting a news release about a plant that is eating the city and everything in it's path. LOL
P. Edulis var Flavicarpa run amok!
Budgie! THat is awesome. Whenever you see a fruit I know you will throw one over this Port St Lucie way so I can try to grow that one to, right :)
hmm Pinellas park...let me find my scissors :) :) :)
Actually I have a couple that just fell off the vine. Catch!
Looks like you have a P. edulis "Alba" there! Great for cross breeding!
I have a similar situation with a P. "Incense" doing the same thing. I gave a big seven gallon pot of it to a friend and found to my surprise that shoots started popping up all over the place! Now I've got it ALL over the place. I'll snap some shots later and post them.
Budgie, really, would you send me some? I know it would be a pain to send the whoel fruit but if you put the seeds with the pulp in a small ziplock, would you send them to me? Please???

Gordo,
Does "Alba" produce the yellow fruit? I googled it but didn't find much info. I bought the seeds as 'flavicarpa' but who knows.
Maydreams, yep I can send you some.
Yipee..here comes a D-mail
Budgie and Gordo, I could be wrong but the picture you have does look like an alba ut when I did a search, I found the Passiflora Eduls var flavicarpa looks like this which really looks like your picture Budgie. GKExotic calls it Edulis "Norfolk" Confirm? It says it is another flavicarpa hybrid with Pure white flowers and large, high-quality, reddish fruit

I did thank you. I sent you a message in another thread. I already have them in soil under the heat :)
