IRIS,

Yup, these fill my back yard, and are some of the most laid-back butterflies that you can have. If you stand around and watch them for just a short time, they will get used to you, and some will even let you 'pet' them, or let you hold them on your finger-tips. Happy summer.

pford1854, It must be nice to see a lot of them at one time, I've only seen one here so far. Thats a really nice picture that you got of them! I have seen this large all yellow butterfly from time to time here and I have been trying to get a photo of it, But, It's so skittsy, Everytime I try to get a little close it takes off. This weekend, I'll have a little extra time and if I see it around, I'm going to put some extra effort into getting a photo of it, Hopefully I'll get one!
Thanks for sharring the info and photo, And Happy summer back at you!

Great shots of the GF Iris!
There is a link in the 'sticky' at the top of the forum that may help ID the yellow one that you keep seeing. Hope you get a pic of it.

IRIS, I've probably got the same Big Yellow butterfly that you do.
Click the link to see.
If it is the same, then Yes, they are skiddish.
They take a little longer to warm up to you.

shiela-FW, Thanks, And also, Thanks so much for the link! ~It will really help to put a name with the photo!

pford1854, Thanks for the link! Is it just the photo or is yours a little bit greenish? I'm not sure if it's the same as the one I see as I can't seem to get close enough to get a really good look at it ( But, Going to see if I can get a shot this weekend, I'm going to take my time and try to hide and wait)

IRIS, Seems like I cannot get the proper settings on my camera.
The BF is very Bright yellow, or Neon yellow if you will.
Good luck, and I hope you 'catch' it.
Happy Summer.
