My Bromeliad Vriesea splendens, or Flaming Sword as its also known, was blooming when I bought it nearly two years ago. I have always read that when they are done blooming, bromeliads' foliage dies. Well, mine never did! I kept watching the base of the plant to see if pups were forming, but none ever appeared. Now, nearly two years later, the foliage looks very healthy and vigorous. Is this unusual?

Randi, Have you, also, post this question in the Bromeliad forum, too??
I have a bromeliad, think it is the same as yours, and it has bloomed, about the same age and looks the same.....healthy and vigorous! I just have never questioned it! 8.)

Thanks Larry. Well, I guess we are just lucky! I love this type of brom - its the only brom I have. I love the olive colored foliage with the chocolate mottling. So attractive!

Randi,
Did you post your question in the bromeliad forum??
Larry
No, not yet. I forgot about it, to be honest. Been having some concerns with some other plants lately, and it slipped my mind. . .

OK
